Estrecho......narrow

Enrique Mendoza is a favourite Vineyard of mine near Benidorm. He produces some wonderful wines, some of which he grows on site and some further away. The Terroir is of course what affects the wine greatly, in combination with the grape itself and rainfall. Monastrell is a grape variety well suited to this region, I had never heard of it until I came to Spain. But now it is a favourite from its sweet white grapes, delicious to eat, through to its luscious red wines...

Estrecho is a narrow strip of land Enrique Mendoza started growing Monastrell grapes on and he produced this fabulous wine. The soil or Terroir has really brought this Monastrell to life. It hits you with a blast of Blackcurrant before dissolving into a dry earthy finish so typical of a Monastrell. On the way there is a little bite of pepper.....
